Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

It's a fabulous game! Richly developed with beautiful landscapes, detailed NPCs, and good mechanics throughout. The real triumph is the music, which has received well deserved plaudits, and will probably be regarded as some of the greatest video game music every composed - no exaggeration. The quality and dedication of this game really seeks to immerse you in something bigger than just button pushing which is where some minor gripes come in. Respawn Studios clearly wanted this to be a story driven game, but the character arcs are frustratingly inane or predictable. Throughout the story I was thinking how much better all of the other characters were than Cal. Cal is constantly shown to be weakest and most inexperienced character in his own game, and this is something that will definitely need addressing for the next instalment. Cal has definitely reached the plausible limit of his 'learning' as a Jedi, and needs to start taking control of stuff around him, rather than being swept along by events, and sounding like a stroppy teenager during his reflexive moments. He's not coming across as the hero that Respawn think he is. They need more serious, classical writers in their stable if they're going to create an epic odyssey like this.

Great game that keeps the spirit of the first game, streamlines the gameplay, and adds more mechanics, fighting styles and weapons. Storyline is great IMHO and I actually like being able to design a garden on top of my cantina. Superb.
